First Meeting: Survey of British Culture & Society

Baca” isinya – That’s what we need! Kemarin” terlalu banyak diskusi teori, nampaknya jauh lebih seru ketika tahun ini lebih terfokus kepada “What I Need to Know When I’m There Someday” Akhirnya, silabus pembelajaran pun harus sedikit diulik.

So, here they are… Read the rest of this entry »

Wait a minute.. Salamuuunn? Reading Comprehension? Be calm.. I’ll tell you then..

What an honor – again, get a chance to get more experiences – and learning as well, with the fresh-graduated students at STBA. Fresh blood, fresh mind, and hopefully – fresh spirit 😉

While collecting the data of the meeting, Reading Comprehension brought me to the memory: a story that my lovely grandpa still remember – and tell others about it.. Read the rest of this entry »

#AClassWithoutASpokenWord

IMG-20121206-01105Hari ini, hari yang puadet banget sampe” missed one agenda. However, the main agenda was amazing. Masuk kelas, ga ngomong apa”, eh – netbook-nya malah jatoh 😦 *saking semangatnya.. Langsung nulis salam di white board.. Ngasih tau, today is a class without a spoken word. Hebatnya, sekelas langsung diem. Oh man, really love it. Even I didn’t use my glasses, tapi I can feel the whole class looked at the words that I typed :D.

Pake 2 netbook, 2 infocus.

Ketika meminta mahasiswa untuk menuliskan pendapatnya, wow.. everyone wrote it down! Beda kalo ditanya, “siapa yang mau kasih komen?” Diem semua biasanya :’)

Ketika saya minta work in pairs, lalu try to communicate with written language, layaknya sms-an,tapi langsung sambil saling menatap, hoho.. so sweet..

Sempet nyetel ‘Happy Tree Friends’ sebagai salah satu film bisu kartun brutal. Film pendek yang cukup terkenal. Dan pada akhirnya cukup tau, jangan dipraktekan ;).

Last activity, sambil dengerin You Belong With Me-nya Taylor Swift, mahasiswa membuat notes, whisper of heart.

In the end, akhirnya kelas bisa ditutup dengan teriakan bersama, AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH… So, use it wisely ;).

“Mr. Bawel-nya ilang, diganti sama Mr. Silent, hoho”, “I’m single but terakreditasi A”,”Tiap hari keujanan :(”, “Really want to learn and understand about English more and more.”, “Last night I had a fight with my boyfriend”, dan catatan” lainnya yang silahkan cek sendiri di Ruang 25 STBA.

Overall, really love it 😉

oh, ini beberapa potongan kata” yang terketik menggantikan suara yang keluar from our mouth 😉 Read the rest of this entry »

A Class Without A Word

Ditengah” ‘kehebohan’ field trip, seorang sahabat memberikan ide pengajaran untuk besok – A Class Without A Word.

A Class Without A Word. Kita bikin kesepakatan, kita ciptakan kelas tanpa suara. Gunakan sign language, gunakan tulisan untuk berkomunikasi.Kita siapkan juga ‘Jar of Words’ *saingan sama Christina Perri yang punya ‘Jar of Heart’. Di sini, yang ngomong, siap” masukin uang 1.000. Kedepannya pun Jar of Words ini bisa dipakai kalau ada yang ngomong pake bahasa Indonesia di English Time kita, kena denda juga 🙂 Tenang, bukan buat saya, tapi buat kas kelas *INGAT RENCANA KITA KE SINGAPORE!!! 😀 Read the rest of this entry »

The Schedules of Guidance Sessions

Like I’ve told you before, there will be no class meeting for the next. We will conduct ‘The Guidance Sessions’. There will be the schedules, but all of you should be ready anytime since when the other groups do not appear at that time, we will continue with the next.

Here, you may see that the lecturer also a human. The things that we’ve done not only taking care of one or two students, but there are many. Besides, there is may be other things to do beside ‘students’ things’ – like Mentari for me. So, I will be very happy if you are ready and follow the schedules well.

Every single meeting, there will be only 2-3 meetings I guess; I hope that you will bring the best thing that you can bring. A paper is a must. Give me the scratch of your findings, then we have something to discuss ;).

Here’s the schedule: Read the rest of this entry »

Think – Write – Speak

Okay, after a long journey of the Speech contest, lets move on to the next project. At first I planned we would deal with the Drama Musical Project for the Preschool students, but unfortunately the Drama Project already done at Drama Class, right? Another plan that we had, we would create you as the interpreters. However, the Speaking Class already did it also couple weeks before. SO, we need something new. Here it is…

The background of the project is the moment I had when I should check the final papers of several students before ‘the day of the judgment’ (siding skripsi maksudnya). There, I found several general misunderstanding about how to conduct the research, and also how to put it into academic writing. Okay, this is Public Speaking – NOT Academic Writing Class, but we can twist it, believe me. Read the rest of this entry »
